City & Crime

IMPORTANT FOR YOUR SAFETY....

Hi All!

With the incidents happening around us and the crime that is been reported we can SAFELY say that each day is getting worse in our good old garden city. Under this situation we will always have a question in our conscious mind which asks us AM I SAFE ? No one can give you an accurate answer to this .... crime is like an accident which we can meet up with at anytime. The best way not to meet with it is to follow the doctors proverb "PRECAUTION IS BETTER THAN CURE" . Crime happens only if there is opportunity given to it or when there is chance for it.

A few tips that can definitely help everyone,

1) Avoid speaking to people whom you don't know (auto rickshaw driver, taxi drivers ....)

2) Avoid late night parties.

3) Do not mix drinking with your wonderful ability to drive.

4) Avoid taking ladies to the late night parties, if you cannot avoid then try going in groups.

5) Avoid taking short cuts when going out in the nights.

6) Avoid restaurant/dhabas in the outskirts of the city as these are places where anti social elements usually hang out.

7) Report incidents to the police if you feel it is the correct information that you are providing to them.

8) Make sure you inform any one before you visit them late at night and also specify time frames.

10) Couples in love please please avoid meeting up in lonely places.

11) Avoid arguing with auto rickshaw drivers and also when you find people who are fighting on roads(it could be a trap)

12) Avoid having personal and friendly conversation with taxi drivers, auto rickshaw drivers , Cab drivers (Specially women)

13) If the driver behaves suspiciously/ rudely try to divert the vehicle to some public place and then immediately get off. Inform the transport department and your manager.

14) Women make sure that you are carrying something to protect yourselves such as a bottle of pepper spray and also make sure that you are wearing a jacket or a shawl if you are not escorted by a man whom you know.

Linking the "list of phone numbers of police stations of your respective areas in Bangalore". Please keep them handy so that it will be of some use to you some day... As the famous Theory of Charles Darwin goes " Survival of the fittest" . When there is no mercy from the assailant why then should be the same from you.

With Regards,
Vinod S.

Public Opinion

Public Opinion

After a lot of sharing about this initiative in public i have taken this work as a community project & christened "CITY STRANGERS" !!

Basic idea is to create awareness among ppl, that precise information is must, when we suggest someone, about anylocation, or place, or college..instead of giving some rough idea.
There are already so many agencies in place who provide all sort of stuff, but how fast it is accessible to a newcomer in city, that is important.....

  1. One suggestion was to speak Bangalore One Incharge & enroll them to start a counter on which ppl can leave notice/info about house available on rent..they can charge some fee for that..n later if any one need accomodation, person can check out B'loreOne..so that we can avoid middle man..n info will be proper..end user will not get confuse....b'caz govt already in process to popularise B'lore One kiosks.
  2. One more idea, when ever we send any invitation, or call letter, or any sort of info, where person has to visit our premise, then we can provide a small area/route map & easisest way to reach(say bus nofrom main bus stops)..person will get benefitted, n with out wastage oftime n money he/she can reach to destination..even service provider companies always send letters to customers, they can hv area map printed on back of envelope......
  3. Every company has their own website, mentioning their address. how good if they provide a route/area map n easiest way to reach to their office... these all small small initiative can help to somebody, who really need information about any place in shorter time.....
  4. Last time one person shared with me, that BMTC buses can have a route map (of the places which ever it covers under source & destination place) on the back of bus or any other visible place on the bus. Or Else Important places which it covers during its route.
  5. Even Bus Stops can be used to put up a small area map & connectivity with Main Bus stops, by providing bus nos. on it......Shops near the bus stops can be used to display B'lore city map, free of cost to people.
  6. If u come across to any useful information in public interest such as change of traffic, oneway system, that also can be put here....

These are so many other ways by which we can provide some structure in this regard. u also suggest me, what rd other areas where we can put effort..

An Initiative

City Strangers

Hi all, there is a small initiative from my side, to create awareness about information. In todays world things have become really hi-tech, but their approach to mass people is still not overwhelming. i.e. the reach of information to populaion is not clear. We have so many ways to circulate any information, as through newspaper, telephonic calls, advertisement, sms, emails, blogs & so many. but out of that how much percentage of population is getting benefitted. As a developing country, India has achieved progress in most of the aspects, take an example of Information Technology. We are no where less than any other developed country.

But when we really see the reality, it is some thing different. Modern means of communication is available with low medium class to upper class. but still flow of information is not proper. As an example if you r new to city as a job seeker, u spend lot of time to search a house, then getting companies addresses, even when u get a call & u go for written test then again searching venue place..Other categories can be as a tourist, student, daily commuter etc.

Like that there are so many places where we waste our preciuos time, and we all know that time never comes back. How good if create a awareness in public, so that whenever we sent any invitation to any body, our put address on any website or adv. place, provide a small route map aslo, so that the concern person can reach to that place with out confusion. Apart from that if we provide bus no, starting from diff bus depo in b'lore, it will be awesome. Infact city buses can have a route map on them mentioning main-main places on the route.

These small means of information can make citizens life happier & comfortable.

So i want initiative from all of u, who read this article n love bangalore city, plz come fwd & give your valuable suggestions & feedbak. if possible we can take certain actions by enrolling civic/goverment authorities in that plan.

Now what ever require to initiate this plan, i need ur help and support..

With Rgds,
parag saxena.
